Neighbors and Neighbors Association, Inc. for
Technical and Business Development
Training to Small Businesses.

BACKGROUND:
It is recommended that the Board of Commissioners of the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community
Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") approve and adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the issuance of a grant,
in an amount not to exceed $30,000, to Neighbors and Neighbors Association, Inc. ("NANA") to provide
technical assistance and business development training to small businesses within the Redevelopment Area.
NANA was established as a non-profit corporation to assist small businesses throughout Miami -Dade County.
The Boards of Commissioners, by Resolution No. CRA-R-09-0005, passed and adopted on January 26, 2009,
authorized the issuance of a grant, in an amount not to exceed $20,000, to NANA, to provide technical
assistance and business development training to small businesses within the Redevelopment Area.
NANA has submitted a proposal to the CRA for additional funds to provide technical assistance and business
development training to small businesses in the Redevelopment Area.
JUSTIFICATION:
Section 2, Goal 4/Principle 6, at pages 11 and 15, of the 2009 Southeast Overtown/Park West Community
Redevelopment Plan lists "[c]reating jobs within the community" through "the support and enhancement of
existing businesses and local entrepreneurs," as stated redevelopment goals.
This Resolution carries out these goals.
FUNDING: $30,000 from SEOPW Tax Increment Fund, "Other Grants and Aids," Account Code No.
10050.920101.883000.0000.00000.
