RE: Folk Life Fridays in Overtown
Dear Mr. Villacorta,
Enclosed please find for your review and consideration a Scope of Work and Budget for Folk Life Fridays
2010. Folk Life Fridays is a monthly open-air market to be held on Overtown's 9th Street Pedestrian Mall.
Folk Life Fridays is an economic development initiative that provides opportunities for local businesses
to promote their goods and services to residents and visitors.
With the development of Miami -Dade County's Transit Building, housing approximately 2000
employees, the close proximity of Park Place and Bay View Residences, ease of access from Downtown
and the Port of Miami, Folk Life Fridays provides a positive destination in the near of Overtown for folks
to "Shop, Dine and Explore," within the CRA boundaries.
This monthly event will showcase approximately thirty (30) local vendors, selling a variety of items, such
as arts and crafts, books, jewelry, clothing and food. As an added bonus we will have live music or a DJ
to play popular music to create a festive atmosphere. Our future efforts will include strengthening cross
community connections and travel to Margaret Pace Park.
We would like to thank you for your continued support in partnering with the Overtown community in
helping make it a better place for residents and businesses.
Sincerely,
kie Bell
