HomeMy WebLinkAboutCRA-R-10-0011 Legislation 10-26-09City of Miami Legislation CRA Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www. m lam igov.corn File Number: 09-01184 Final ctinu Dale: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE OMNI REDEVELOPMENT DISTRICT COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF A GRANT, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $55,000, TO THE MIAMI DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY FOR THE CONTINUATION OF ITS DOWNTOWN ENHANCEMENT TEAM PROGRAM IN THE MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT WITHIN THE REDEVELOPMENT AREA; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, AT HIS DISCRETION, TO DISBURSE THE GRANT ON A REIMBURSEMENT BASIS OR DIRECTLY TO VENDORS, UPON PRESENTATION OF INVOICES AND SATISFACTORY DOCUMENTATION, AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR SAID PURPOSE, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO GENERAL COUNSEL; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM OMNI TAX INCREMENT FUND, "OTHER GRANTS AND AIDS," ACCOUNT CODE NO. 10040.920101.883000.0000.00000. WHEREAS, the Omni Redevelopment District Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") is responsible for carrying out community redevelopment activities and projects within the Redevelopment Area in accordance with its approved Redevelopment Plan; and WHEREAS, Section IV.A., paragraph 3, at page 11, of the 1986 Omni Redevelopment Plan, as amended, lists "creat[ing} the image of a desirable high quality 'uptown' district with an attractive appearance ... and the perception of safety and security" as a major revitalization strategy; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners, by Resolution No. CRA-R-08-0036, passed and adopted on June 30, 2008, authorized a grant, in an amount not to exceed $55,000, to the Miami Downtown Development Authority ("DDA") for the expansion of its Downtown Enhancement Team Program ("DET Program") to the Media and Entertainment District in the Omni Redevelopment Area; and WHEREAS, DDA has submitted a grant proposal to the CRA requesting $55,000, to underwrite the cost associated with the continuation of its DET Program in the Omni Redevelopment Area; and WHEREAS, the DET Program will continue to provide maintenance services in furtherance of the redevelopment strategy in the Media and Entertainment District within in the Omni Redevelopment Area; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners wishes to authorize a grant to DDA for the continuation its DET Program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE OMNI REDEVELOPMENT DISTRICT COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: city of Miami Pug 1 a/' 2 Primed Go: 10/20/2009 File Number 09-01184 Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. A grant, in an amount not to exceed $55,000, to the Miami Downtown Development Authority for the continuation of its Downtown Enhancement Team Program in the Media and Entertainment District within the Redevelopment Area, is authorized. Section 3. The Executive Director is authorized, at his discretion, to disburse the grant on a reimbursement basis or directly to vendors, upon presentation of invoices and satisfactory documentation. Section 4, The Executive Director is authorized to execute all documents necessary for said purpose, in a form acceptable to General Counsel. Section 5. Funds are to be allocated from Omni Tax Increment Fund, "Other Grants and Aids," Account Code No. 10040.920101.883000.0000.00000. Section 6.
