Listed below is a description the programs in the Southeast Overtown Youth Park West and OMNI CRAs. Over town Park West CRA Contracts: Jay Learning Center - Out -of School program provides after school services for 60 general population children and 5 children with disabilities ages 5 to 12 years old residing in the Overtown area of Miami. The program offers participants fun and engaging activities in a wholesome and safe environment including literacy, tutoring support, physical fitness, social skills, nutrition education and field trips. Location: Jay's Learning Center Gibson Park 401 NW 12th Street Miami, FI. 33136 Award: $ 149,026 Over town Youth Center_- Out of School program provides after school services for 175 general population students and summer programs for 150 general population youths ages 7-18 years (2nd — 12th grade), who reside in Overtown. Participants will increase knowledge, skills and civic participation. Collaborators include neighborhood organizations, countywide institutions and national civic engagement organizations. The target population for the PCE initiative will be adults who have an interest in promoting community change in support of child and family well-being. This group includes parents as well as other community members concerned by MDC's numerous poor indicators of child well-being. Location: Temple Israel 137 NE 19th St. Miami, FL 33132 Amt $ 300,000 Aspira of South Florida - Out of School Program serves children during after school and summer. Eleven to fifteen year -old students at Eugenio Maria De Hostos Charter School are encouraged to use their creativity emphasizing pro -social bonding, leadership, communication, and resisting negative peer pressure. Sports and exercise encourage healthy children and promote teamwork while music, chess, and dance bring out the talents in our children. All this, in addition to reading about multicultural -focused themes, will inspire in children an interest for academic pursuit.
