Sarnoff Date: February 1, 2010 File: 10-00147 and Members of the CRA Board Subject: Resolution Authorizing an Advance of Funds for the Demolition and Removal of the Buildings at 163 N.W. 11th St., 1020 N.W. 2nd Ave, and 1024 N.W. 2nd Ave., Miami, FL. Villacorta References: Executive Director Enclosures: Supporting Documentation; Legislation BACKGROUND: It is recommended that the Board of Commissioners of the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") approve and adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the advance of funds, in an amount not to exceed $46,502, to the City of Miami, Florida for the demolition and removal of the buildings at 163 N.W. 11th Street, 1020 N.W. 2nd Avenue, and 1024 N.W. 2nd Avenue, all in Miami, Florida, pending the City's receipt of the proceeds from its demolition lien. The buildings at 163 N.W. 11th Street, 1020 N.W. 2nd Avenue, and 1024 N.W. 2nd Avenue, are structurally unsafe and the City has obtained demolition orders for these buildings. The City has received a price from its approved vendor of $46,502 for the demolition and removal of the structures. The City's Building Department has advised that it is currently under financial constraints and has asked that the CRA advance the funds for demolition, pending the City's collection of its demolition lien. Demolition of these structures will eliminate a blighting condition in the Redevelopment Area. JUSTIFICATION: Section 2, Goal No. 6, at page 11 of the 2009 Southeast Overtown/ Park West Community Plan lists "[i]mproving the quality of life for residents of the Redevelopment Area" as a stated redevelopment goal. This Resolution carries out that goal. FUNDING: $46,502 from the SEOPW Tax Increment Fund, "Other Contractual Services," Account Code No. 10050.920101.534.0000.00000.
