HomeMy WebLinkAboutCRA-R-09-0040 Back up• • • Film Life's 13th Annual BLA K V�'� ESTIVAL 2009 ABFF COMMUNITY SHOWCASE Scope of Services The American Black Film Festival's ("ABFF") Community Showcase is presented in partnership with the City of Miami Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). The goal of the Showcase, which is scheduled to take place from Thursday, June 25 through Sunday, June 28, 2009, is to promote the Overtown, Park West and Omni redevelopment areas as areas conducive to the film and production industry. In addition, the Showcase seeks to educate youths in the Overtown community on the career opportunities and diverse disciplines in the film and production industry. Provider will implement a multi -phase marketing program which will include the following: 1. Coordination of CRA/ABFF programmed events scheduled to take place in the SEOPW and Omni Redevelopment Areas from Thursday, June 25-Sunday, June 28, 2009 2. Coordinating the invitations and registration, transportation and accommodations for the invited ABFF celebrities and VIP guests for the June 25, 2009 CRA's ABFF Press Conference & Invitation Only Reception to be held at the Ice Palace. 3. Updating the ABFF website (www.abff.com) and ABFF packages to accommodate the CRA/ABFF scheduled activities 4. Preparation of a 10 page playbill with CRA marketing "Shop, Dine, Explore" campaign and CRA/ABFF program schedule 5. Coordination and implementation of a Youth Filmmaker Workshop to be held on Friday, June 27, 2009 at the Lyric Theater. 6. Coordination and implementation of a private screening of the film Pastor Brown to be held on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Lyric Theater. 7. Coordination of discount package for residents of the Overtown, Park West and Omni Redevelopment Areas to the ABFF workshops and Moves taking place in the City of Miami Beach. 8. Assist with public and community relations by drafting and distributing press releases on the CRA/ABFF scheduled activities to ABFF credentialed press as well as local Miami print and broadcast outlets 9. Coordination of a daily trolley service to run between the Ritz Carlton Hotel, key ABFF venues and points of interest within the City of Miami beginning Friday, June 25-Sunday, June 28, 2009 10. Coordinate travel for ABFF participants from the Colony Theatre to ABFF closing night event held in the City of Miami. 11. The purpose of the Welcome/Press Reception is to welcome ABFF Festival participants to Miami, introduce them to the City and launch the new marketing initiative: Shop, Dine, Explore. Invited VIP's such as ABFF Founder Jeff Friday, Jury President Sanaa Lathan, actor/director Robert Townsend, producer Will Packer, director John Singleton, writer/producer Gregory Allen Howard, actors Anthony Anderson, Rockmond Dunbar, Lamman Rucker, Eriq Lassalle and Megan Good will meet and greet dignitaries from the City of Miami and view a selection of Haitian Art from the Purvis Young Collection. The event will take place at the Lyric Theatre on Friday, June 26, 2009 10:00 am -12:00 noon. Participants will have the opportunity to hear first hand from three panelists in a variety of disciplines in film: actor, producer, director, editor, music supervisor, casting director, make-up artist or costume designer. The three panelists will discuss the ins and outs of the film business: how they got started, who inspired them and how to move forward in the film industry. After the presentations, panelists will participate in a Q&A session with the audience. The discussion will be moderated member of the University of Miami Film School. This program has been set-up to encourage young filmmakers to think critically about the role of the motion -picture industry in the world and to provide them with information and career exploration. This faith based film whose message is hope, redemption and faith will be screened for a select group of ministers, community leaders and residents from the City of Miami.. The films producer, director and a cast member will be on hand to mix with the audience prior to the screenings as well as participate in a brief Q&A at the films conclusion.
