Villacorta—Y Executive Directotl` Subject: Resolution Authorizing the Expenditure of Funds Allocated for Sidewalk, Curb, and Gutter Replacement for the NW 3`ti Avenue Streetscape Improvements. References: Enclosures: Supporting Documentation; Legislation BACKGROUND: It is recommended that the Board of Commissioners of the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") approve and adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the expenditure of funds previously allocated for sidewalk, curb, and gutter replacement on the NW r' Avenue Streetscape Improvements. The Board of Commissioners, by Resolution No. CRA-R-07-0038, passed and adopted on September 24, 2007, authorized funds, in an amount not to exceed $4,350,000, for the NW 3rd Avenue Streetscape Improvements. The scope of the project has been expanded to include additional sidewalk and drainage improvements, up lighting at trees, and water main replacement. The City of Miami's Department of Capital Improvement Program is requesting to increase the construction contract amount by $1,300,000 to cover this increase in scope. The existing budget contains a contingency of approximately $600,000. The Board of Commissioners, by Resolution No. CRA-R-05-0051, passed and adopted on December 15, 2005, authorized the expenditure of funds, in an amount not to exceed $850,000, for sidewalk, curb, and gutter replacement within the Redevelopment Area. This resolution allows the balance of the requested funds to be drawn from the previously allocated sidewalk, curb, and gutter funds. JUSTIFICATION: Section IV.,C., paragraph 1, at page 27, of the 1982 SEOPW Community Redevelopment Plan, as amended, includes "[r]ebuild[ing] and beautify[ing] NW 3rd Avenue from NW 8th — 14th Streets" as a recommended improvement. This Resolution accomplishes this recommendation.
