in an amount not to exceed $50,000, to New Washington Heights Community Development Conference, Inc.,
for production of "Folklife Fridays," a monthly open-air market to be held for six consecutive months on the 9th
Street Pedestrian Mall in Overtown.
New Washington Heights Community Development Conference, Inc. has requested a grant for assistance in the
production of "Folklife Fridays." The series of open-air markets will showcase approximately thirty (30) local
vendors, selling a variety of items, such as arts and crafts, books, jewelry, clothing, and food. It is anticipated
that the monthly event will run from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and feature live music during the lunch hour.
JUSTIFICATION:
Section 111.B., Page 13, lists "[r]estor[ing] a sense of community and unify[ing] the area culturally" as a stated
