HomeMy WebLinkAboutCRA-R-08-0018 Back-upCity of Miami Legislation CRA Resolution: CRA-R-07-0028 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www. mi amigov. com File Number: 07-00698 Final Action Date:7/30/2007 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ("CRA") AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY'S METROPOLITAN CENTER, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $25,000, TO UPDATE THE FINDING OF NECESSITY STUDY FOR THE AMENDED 2004 SEOPW REDEVELOPMENT PLAN AND TO EVALUATE ADDITIONAL EXPANSION OF THE REDEVELOPMENT AREA; FUNDS TO BE ALLOCATED FROM SEOPW TIF FUND ENTITLED "PROFESSIONAL SERVICES," ACCOUNT CODE NO. 10050.920101.5310000.0000.00000. WHEREAS, the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") is responsible for carrying out redevelopment activities and projects in the Southeast Overtown/Park West Redevelopment area; and WHEREAS, by Resolution No. CRA-R-04-0014, passed and adopted on November 15, 2004, the CRA's Board of Commissioners accepted the Amended 2004 Southeast Overtown/Park West Redevelopment Plan (the "Amended Plan"); and WHEREAS, by Resolution No. R-05-0354, passed and adopted on May 26, 2005, the City of Miami Board of Commissioners approved and adopted the Amended Plan; and WHEREAS, on June 21, 2005 the Amended Plan was transmitted to Miami -Dade County for approval; and WHEREAS, Miami -Dade County has asked that the Finding of Necessity Study contained in the plan be updated; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners wishes to evaluate additional expansion of the Redevelopment Area; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners wish to authorize execution of an agreement with Florida International University's Metropolitan Center to update the Finding of Necessity Study; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Section 2. The execution of an agreement with Florida International University's Metropolitan Center, in an amount not to exceed $25,000, to update the Finding of Necessity Study for the Amended 2004 SEOPW Redevelopment Plan and to evaluate additional expansion of the Redevelopment Area is authorized. Section 3. Funds to be allocated from SEOPW TIF Fund entitled "Professional Services," Account Code No. 10050.920101.5310000.0000.00000. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. The report will contain the conclusions that would allow the areas to meet the required definition of "slum and Blight".
