D/B/A CHAPTER 2 CLOTHING FOR INVENTORY, FIXTURES, FITTINGS, SIGNAGE, AND WARDROBE VOUCHERS, AT THE DORSEY HOUSE IN OVERTOWN, 250 NW 9TH STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, AT HIS DISCRETION, TO DISBURSE THE GRANT FUNDS ON A REIMBURSEMENT BASIS, OR DIRECTLY TO SUB -GRANTEES AND VENDORS, UPON PRESENTATION OF INVOICES AND SATISFACTORY DOCUMENTATION; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR SAID PURPOSE; FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $25,000 TO BE ALLOCATED FROM SEOPW TAX INCREMENT FUND, "OTHER GRANTS AND AIDS," ACCOUNT CODE NO. 10050, 920101.883000.0000. 00000. WHEREAS, the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") is responsible for carrying out community redevelopment activities and projects in accordance with its approved Redevelopment Plan; and WHEREAS, providing "better employment opportunities and upward job mobility for residents" is a stated objective of the Redevelopment Plan, at page 13, Section III.B.; and WHEREAS, The Women's Alliance, Inc. is not -for -profit corporation, that assists individuals transitioning out of poverty and homelessness; and WHEREAS, since February 3, 2006, The Women's Alliance, Inc, has operated a resale clothing store in the Dorsey House, catering to men and women seeking to re-enter the workforce; and WHEREAS, The Women's Alliance, Inc. has received an increased number of requests for wardrobe support for homeless and low-income residents in transition; and WHEREAS, The Women's Alliance, Inc. has requested a grant for additional inventory, fixtures, fittings, signage, and wardrobe vouchers; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners wishes to authorize the grant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted City of ll'lia,n i Page 1 of 2 Printed On: 12/6/2007 File Number: 07-01497 by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. A grant, in an amount not to exceed $25,000, to The Women's Alliance, Inc. d/b/a Chapter 2 Clothing for inventory, fixtures, fittings, signage, and wardrobe vouchers, at the Dorsey House in Overtown, 250 NW 9th Street, Miami, Florida, is authorized. Section 3. The Executive Director, at his discretion, is authorized to disburse the grant funds on a reimbursement basis, or directly to sub -grantees and vendors, upon presentation of invoices and satisfactory documentation. Section 4. The Executive Director is authorized to execute all necessary documents for said purpose. Section 5. Funds, in an amount not to exceed $25,000, are to be allocated from SEOPW Tax Increment Fund, "Other Grants and Aids," Account Code No. 10050.920101.883000.0000.00000. Section 6.
