Villacortt References: Executive Directo Enclosures: Supporting Documentation; Legislation BACKGROUND: The attached resolution authorizes issuance of a work order, in an amount not to exceed $18,300, to Demolition Masters, Inc. for the demolition and removal of the Divine Mission Building, at 910 N.W. 2nd Court, Miami, Florida. The CRA acquired this building, pursuant to Resolution No. SEOPW/CRA-R-01-143, passed and adopted on December 11, 2001. On February 6, 2007, the City of Miami's Department of Capital improvements and Transportation estimated the cost of renovating the 12-unit apartment building at $2.2 million. The Board determined the renovation to be cost prohibitive. The building continues to deteriorate and its demolition will improve the look of the neighborhood and allow for redevelopment of this and adjacent parcels. The CRA solicited bids to demolish the structure from four contractors. Demolition Masters, Inc. submitted the lowest bid and is on the City's approved list of demolition contractors. JUSTIFICATION: The building is in a state of severe disrepair and poses a danger to the health, welfare, and safety of the general public. Its demolition will remove its blighting effect on the neighborhood. FUNDING: $18,300 from SEOPW, entitled "Other Contractual Services," Account Code No. 10050.920101.534000.0000.00000 JHV/pk
