HomeMy WebLinkAboutCRA-R-06-0048 legislationCity of Miami Legislation CRA Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 06-02076 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY AUTHORIZING A GRANT, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $525,000, TO THE DOWNTOWN MIAMI PARTNERSHIP TO PROVIDE PARTIAL FUNDING FOR THE "NW 3rd AVENUE FACADE PROGRAM;" AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR SAID PURPOSE; ALLOCATING FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $525,000, FROM SEOPW TAX INCREMENT FUND, "OTHER GRANTS AND AIDS," ACCOUNT CODE NO. 10050.920101.883000.0000.00000. WHEREAS, the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") is responsible for carrying out community redevelopment activities and projects in accordance with its approved Redevelopment Plan; and WHEREAS, maintaining existing businesses, attracting new businesses, preserving historic buildings and sites, removing slum and blighted conditions, reinforcing the property tax base, and rebuilding and beautifying NW 3rd Avenue are all stated objectives of the Redevelopment Plan (See Section III, B., at page 13, and Section IV, C., paragraph 1, at page 27, of the 1982 Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Plan, as amended); and WHEREAS, the Downtown Miami Partnership ("DMP") has created a program to rehabilitate the building facades along NW 3rd Avenue which will help accomplish these objectives; and WHEREAS, DMP has requested a grant, in an amount not to exceed $525,000, to partially fund the NW 3rd Avenue Facade Program; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners wishes to authorize the grant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. A grant, in an amount not to exceed $525,500, to the Downtown Miami Partnership to provide partial funding for the "NW 3rd Avenue Facade Program"' is authorized. Section 3. The Executive Director is authorized to execute all documents necessary for said purpose. Section 4.
