This letter will serve as BET Digital Networks, LLC, d/b/a BET J's ("BET J") request for a grant
from the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") to
underwrite a portion of the 2007 BET J Super Bowl Festival ("Festival"):
As part of the 2007 BET J Super Bowl Festival BET J will:
Concert series:
• Secure the Lyric Theatre in Downtown Miami for a two day concert presentation February
01 st — 00d.
• Book talent for each day of performances.
Proposed line up:
Dav One: The Marcus Johnson Project, Kirk Whalum, Bebe Winans or Jonathan Butler.
Day Two: The Marcus Johnson Project, Nestor Torres, Regina Belle.
• Handle all aspects of production in the Lyric Theatre including sound, lights, backline,
sound checks etc.
• Handle all air and ground transportation requirements for talent, BET J crew and
production crew.
• Assisting in coordinating additional event activities around the Lyric Theatre
(including entertainment, exhibits, arts and food and cultural presentations). BET J
will seek the CRA's input on these activities.
• Make best efforts to bring in BET J advertisers as sponsors of the event and the
additional event activities (BET J will retain 20% of all sponsorship monies raised by
BET J, with the remainder used to support the event and the additional event
activities. It is the intent that the sponsorship funds monies will be used for the event
and additional activities; however, if any unused sponsorship funds remain they will
be used to reimburse the grant).
Television support:
• BET J will create one (1) thirty 30-second commercial spot to promote the 2007 Super
Bowl Festival. Value: $5000.00
• The spot will minimum a minim of Illn times onarr (Schedulero_�_��_ TBD).
Value: $25,000.00
• BET J will shoot 2 half hour BET J shows from the event.
Value: $30,000.00
• Shows will include interview footage with officials and organizers of the event.
• Show will air on BET J a minimum of four times (schedule and dates TBD).
Value: $100,000.00
• Show will air once on BET during BET J's 2am EST timeslot on BET.
Value: $50,000,00
Total Television Value: $210,000.00
Total Production Value: $150,000.00
Total Value: $360,000.00
Other:
• BET J will hire a local producer to coordinate local human resources as well as goods
and services for the project.
• BET J will encourage the hiring of students from Booker T. Washington Senior High
School and local residents in connection with the festival.
• CRA will have creative input in the two shows produced by BET J.
• BET J will develop and distribute a press release promoting the event and acknowledging
the grant.
• BET J will develop and run a promotional spot to promote the airing of the shows on BET
J.
Grant request:
• BET J seeks a grant in the amount of $100,000 for the concert production and television
support presented above, to be disbursed on a reimbursement basis, or directly to
sub -grantees and vendors, upon presentation of invoices and documentation
satisfactory to the CRA.
