Dear Mr. Villacorta:
Over the last few months the Orange Bowl Committee (OBC) has been working with City
of Miami officials to bring one of the OBC's signature events to the City of Miami. I am
proud to announce that the Orange Bowl Committee and the City of Miami have agreed to
host the Orange Bowl Beach Bash event at Margaret Pace Park on January 1, 2007.
In the earl- stages our discussions, the OBC submitted a proposal to various municipalities
interested in hosting the event. The proposal outlined two specific requests:
1. In -Kind services to include staging, fencing and City services
2. Financial Contribution
'The. total value of our request was $195,000. The City of Miami Commission has already
approved a $100,000 cash contribution to help offset event related expenses outlined in the
proposal. As a follow-up to our meeting, the Orange Bowl Committee would like to
request the support of the Miami CRA. in the form of a cash contribution in the
amount of $50,000. These dollars will be used to offset the $195,000 required in the
proposal.
In return for the CRA's contribution, the CRA logo will be included on all
marketing/promotional materials related to the event. In addition, any on -site signage and
PA announcements which include the City of Miami will also include the City of Miami
CRA.
The event serves as a pep rally for the 2007 FedEx Orange and features the University
bands, teams, former players, coaches, cheerleaders and mascots. In addition, it also includes
local performers as well as nationally recognized musical acts.
Our goal this year is to provide the visiting fans a true "Taste of Miami." We will provide
restaurants within the City of Miami the opportunity to participate by allowing them to sell
some of their signature dishes at the event. Thus far, I have had initial discussions with the
following restaura.a.'ts:

In addition, I will be discussing an opportunity to drive the fans in attendance to the Miami's
Entertainment District as well as Bayside Marketplace after the event. I have already reached
out to Club Space and Chili's Bayside about offering a special promotion to keep the fans in
the City of Miami after the event. However, I will make sure that we reach out to the other
venues as well.
In our recent meeting you mentioned that this request will require the approval of your
Board of Directors which is scheduled to meet on Monday, October 30th. As you prepare for
that meeting please feel free to contact me with any questions,
I once again thank you for taking the time to meet with me as we continue the planning for
an event that both the traveling fans and City of Miami residents will enjoy.
Sincerely
