RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Boards of Commissioners of the Southeast Overtown/Park West and
Omni Redevelopment District Community Redevelopment Agencies (CRAs) approve and adopt the
attached Resolution accepting the report of the Community Redevelopment Agency Capital
Improvement and Beautification Advisory Committee identifying prospective capital projects that will
improve the quality of life, infrastructure, and aesthetics in the CRA redevelopment areas and
directing the Executive Director to forward the report to City Administration with the request that the
appropriate City staff meet with the proposers and provide their input and recommendations to the
Board.
JUSTIFICATION:
By Resolution No. CRA-R-06-0016, passed and adopted April 24, 2006, the Boards of
Commissioners for the Southeast Overtown/Park West and Omni Redevelopment District Community
Redevelopment Agencies ("CRAB") created the Capital Improvement and Beautification Advisory
Committee (the "Committee") to serve in an advisory capacity to identify and prioritize significant and
achievable capital projects that will improve the quality of life, infrastructure, and aesthetics of the
CRA redevelopment areas. The committee met on May 5, May 30, June 12, June 19, July 10, July
22, July 24, August 8, and September 23, 2006. The July 22 meeting was a public forum at which the
public was invited to submit projects. The Committee has listed and ranked the projects presented.
At this time the projects and rankings are being presented to the Board with the recommendation that
the board request appropriate city staff meet with the proposers to determine conformance with City
plans and programs and that City staff provide its input to the Board.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None — this is a policy driven item.
