A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE SOUTHEAST
OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY RATIFYING
THE ACTIONS OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR IN MAKING PAYMENT IN THE
AMOUNT OF $104,490 TO DESIGN -BUILD INTERAMERICAN, INC. FOR
EMERGENCY ROOF REPAIRS, NECESSITATED BY HURRICANE WILMA, TO THE
HISTORIC GREATER BETHELA.M.E. CHURCH; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
SEOPW TIF FUND, "CONSTRUCTION IN PROGRESS," ACCOUNT CODE NO.
689001.550108.6.860.
WHEREAS, the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA"),
is responsible for supporting and carrying out community redevelopment activities and projects within
its redevelopment area in accordance with its approved redevelopment plan ("Redevelopment
Plan");" and
WHEREAS, Section III.B. of the Redevelopment Plan, entitled "Redevelopment Objectives," at
Page 13, lists "Preserv[ing] historic buildings and sites" as a stated objective; and
WHEREAS, Section IV.M. of the Redevelopment Plan, entitled "Historic Preservation Plan," at
Page 95, lists preservation of the historic Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church at 245 N.W. 8th Street as
being of major importance; and
WHEREAS, at the June 26, 2006 meeting, the Board of Commissioners authorized the
Executive Director to expeditiously address concerns regarding hurricane damage to the church roof
and requested that the expenditure be brought back for ratification by the Board of Commissioners;
and
WHEREAS, the CRA was able to entirely re -roof the Church and daycare center with a
waterproof capsheet at a cost of $104,490 in a manner that allows the Church time to obtain funding
for replacement of the tile system without suffering additional water damage; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners wish to ratify the actions of the Executive Director;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD COMMISSIONERS OF THE
SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted
by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The actions of the Executive Director in making payment in the amount of
$104,490 to Design -Build Interamerican, Inc. for emergency roof repairs, necessitated by hurricane
Wilma, to the historic Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church is ratified.

Section 3. Funds are to be allocated from SEOPW TIF Fund, "Construction in Progress,"
Account Code No. 689001.550108.6.860.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
