A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SOUTHEAST
OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
AUTHORIZING A GRANT, iN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $35,000, TO THE
BLACK ARCHIVES, HISTORY AND RESEARCH FOUNDATION OF SOUTH
FLORIDA, INC., TO PARTIALLY FUND AN EXHIBITION BY THE SCHOMBURG
CENTER FOR RESEARCH IN BLACK CULTURE ENTITLED "IN MOTION: THE
AFRICAN-AMERICAN MIGRATION EXPERIENCE" AT THE LYRIC THEATER
FROM FEBRUARY THROUGH MAY 2006 IN CELEBRATION OF BLACK HISTORY
AND HAITIAN HERITAGE MONTHS; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE
DIRECTOR, AT HIS DISCRETION, TO DISBURSE THE GRANT ON A
REIMBURSEMENT BASIS TO THE BLACK ARCHIVES, OR DIRECTLY TO ANY
OF THE EXHIBIT PROVIDERS, UPON RECEIPT OF INVOICES AND
SATISFACTORY DOCUMENTATION; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM SEOPW TAX
INCREMENT FUND, "OTHER GRANTS AND AIDS," ACCOUNT CODE NO.
689001.550108.6.940.
WHEREAS, the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA")
is responsible for carrying out community redevelopment activities and projects within the Southeast
OvertownlPark West Community Redevelopment Area in accordance with its approved
Redevelopment Plan; and
WHEREAS, the CRA's approved Redevelopment Plan, at Section III, B. "Redevelopment
Objectives," provides for activities that will "Restore a sense of community and unify the area
culturally;" and
WHEREAS, The Black Archives, History and Research Foundation of South Florida, Inc., has
requested a grant to partially fund an exhibition by the Schomburg Center for Research in Black
Culture entitled "In Motion: The African -American Migration Experience at the Lyric Theater in
celebration of Black History and Haitian Heritage months; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors wishes to authorize the grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted
by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. A grant, in an amount not to exceed $35,000, to The Black Archives, History and
Research Foundation of South Florida, Inc., to partially fund an exhibition by the Schomburg Center for
Research in Black Culture entitled "In Motion: The African -American Migration Experience" at the Lyric

Theater from February through May 2006 in celebration of Black History and Haitian Heritage months,
is authorized.
Section 3. The Executive Director is authorized, at his discretion, to disburse the grant on a
reimbursement basis to The Black Archives, or directly to any of the exhibit providers, upon receipt of
invoices and satisfactory documentation.
Section 4. Funds are to be allocated from SEOPW Tax Increment Fund, "Other Grants and
Aids," Account Code No. 689001.550108.6 .940.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
