Re: Request for Funding
Dear Mr. Rollason:
The homeowners of Poinciana Village have continued to be good citizens of the City of
Miami, under very difficult and challenging circumstances. At this time we find
ourselves in need of assistance to address a number of issues as listed below (see attached
schedule):
1. Replacement of 32 Pyramid Canopies for a total of $42, 267 — Canopies that
cover the carports were either worn or torn and the Association was forced to
remove all of the canopies that cover the carports. The steel framing is now
exposed and gives the appearance of neglect and abandonment.
2. Refurbish the pool for a cost of $4,000 — The pool walls appear to be discolored
and pool floor is plagued with holes (concrete exposed), creating a health hazard.
3. Seal Coat the Parking Lot fora total of $3,000 — The parking lot is in dire need of
patch and seal coat. The parking lot markings are faded and asphalt is cracked in
many areas.
4. Concrete repairs and painting of buildings for an estimated cost of $60,000 — A
number of units are experiencing water leaks as a result of cracks to the exterior
walls. This needs to be addressed immediately. Both buildings need to be
repainted to achieve uniformity and maintain proper value.
We remain confident that the promises and commitment of the City of Miami to
redevelop this area will eventually come to fruition. However, realistically the
development of Poinciana will probably extend over a period of two to three years. This
is the estimated timeline before construction begins on the original Poinciana Village site.
We therefore ask that you diligently examine resources within the Community
Redevelopment Agency that may be available to assist us in meeting these urgent needs
at the present time.
Sincerely,
Del Bryan, President
