Winton and Members of the CRA Board Date: January 21, 2005 04-01436 Subject: Authorization to Increase CRA Contribution for PAC Parking Study From: Frarik K Rollason References: Executive Director Enclosures: Resolution; Supporting Documentation RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Board of Directors of the Omni Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) approve and adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the Executive Director to increase the contribution from the CRA to the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) in the amount of $10,000 above the originally approved $15,000 for a total of $25,000 for additional funding for the DDA consultant to study the parking problems for the Performing Arts Center. JUSTIFICATION: On July 26, 2004, the Omni CRA Board of Directors approved Resolution No. CRA-R-04-0002 authorizing a contribution of $15,000 to the DDA for the purpose of partially funding a Parking Study in conjunction with the Performing Arts Center. The DDA, also, contributed $15,000 toward the study for a total of $30,000. No other agency contributed toward the study. The CRA received a request from the DDA on December 7, 2004 to contribute another $10,000 for the purpose of covering costs of authorized additional services plus anticipated costs associated with the consultant's participation in upcoming briefing sessions through early February of '05. As you are aware, the lack of parking for the PAC is a problem that must be resolved — and quickly. The DDA has taken the leadership role in pulling this study together, but requires the costs to be spread around several agencies. On December 30, 2004, the Performing Arts Center contributed an additional $10,000 per attached letter. Therefore, it is recommended that the CRA contribute the requested like amount of $10,000 to complete the study and develop the RFP.
