Construction of Port of Miami Tunnel The Port of Miami Tunnel will provide direct access between Miami's seaport, Interstates 395 and 95 and keep the Port of Miami —the community's second largest economic generator — competitive. The direct interstate access provided by the Port Tunnel construction project will relieve congested downtown Miami streets of passenger and cargo traffic, improve safety and facilitate ongoing and future development in and around downtown Miami. www•portofmiamitunnel.com Financing Needed: $100,000,000 Jobs Created: 2,000 Relocation of Camillus House Camillus House's mission is to end chronic homelessness throughout Miami -Dade County. The project consists of the relocation of the Camillus House homeless shelter from downtown Miami to a new state-of-the-art, 340-bed, LEED certified, facility in the heart of Miami' s Hospital District. The facility will increase emergency, transitional and permanent supportive services for Miami's homeless population. www.camillushouse.ore/ Financing Needed: $14,000,000 Jobs Created: 100 • • • Miami Streetcar Project The Miami Streetcar Project is an urban transit circulator that will operate in existing roadways, and provide connectivity among major activity centers, commercial and retail establishments, as well as residential communities throughout the project corridor. The proposed 10.6 mile streetcar service will provide improved transit connections between Downtown Miami's redeveloping areas of Wynwood/Edgewater, Overtown, Midtown Miami, the Miami Design District, and the Health District thus driving new economic expansion in these neighborhoods. The project also includes reconstruction, resurfacing, sidewalk repair, and traffic control for public streets in downtown Miami. http://www.miamigov.com/MiamiStreetcar/pages/ Cost: $280,000,000 Jobs Created: 560 Bicentennial Station Community Intermodal System The Bicentennial Intermodal Station will create a true community intermodal system for Miami's downtown. The project will provide safe and convenient pedestrian access to Bicentennial Park, reduce automotive traffic, and complete the seamless linkage of existing interregional corridors (I-95, I-395) to local transit (Tri-Rail, Metrorail, Metrover and Metrobus). The project includes construction of new parking, redevelopment of existing structures, and furthers existing pedestrian -oriented community transit strategies. Increased pedestrian activities in Miami's downtown will encourage redevelopment of Miami's urban core and support economic expansion. Cost: $10,000,000 Jobs Created: 300 Digital Divide Initiative: Public Wi-Fi Installation The project consists of the installation of public wireless internet access throughout the Community Redevelopment Area ("CRA"). Many residents of the CRA lack internet access and are at risk of falling behind as we become increasingly dependent on information technology. This project will bridge the digital divide and provide residents and new businesses with access to the educational, health and financial opportunities available online. Cost: $1,000,000 Jobs Created: 50 NW 2nd Avenue Road Rebuild As a continuation of the Streetscape Project that commenced on NW 3rd Avenue, the NW 2°d Avenue project will rebuild the streets and sidewalks in Overtown between NW 3rd and NW 15t Avenues and NW 11 s, and 14th Streets including the construction of a roundabout at NW 2nd Avenue/2'd Court at NW 11 th Street. Cost: $3,000,000 Jobs Created: 14 2 • • NW 14th Street Road Rebuild This streetscape project encompasses upgrading NW 14t`' Street from NW 3rd Avenue to NE 2nd Avenue. Included are water main upgrades, drainage improvements, street lighting, sidewalk and roadway replacement, landscaping and street furniture. The project is designed to upgrade the overall appearance and utility of NW le Street to attract investment and business development. Cost: $6,000,000 Jobs Created: 20 Gibson Park Improvements The Theodore Gibson Park is the sole recreational facility within the SEOPW Redevelopment Area. The renovation and expansion project will include demolition work, a new drainage system, regrading, remodeling and construction of new buildings, roof repairs, walkways, fencing, and pool improvements. The project will also include the relocation and expansion of the Culmer/Overtown Branch Library facility. Project Cost Estimate: $10,000,000 Jobs Created: 20 SEOPW Greenspace Project This project is designed to increase the open and park space within the SEOPW Redevelopment Area. This area has been designated as slum and blighted with cramped houses with few areas for residents to safely gather for community functions or recreation. The project has identified various unused parcels to be upgraded with landscaping, recreational equipment, lighting, and fencing. Cost: $3,000,000 Jobs Created: 6 3
