Ahr, Ph.D., M.P.A., President and CEO January 26, 2009 Courtyard • We have processed an invoice to draw down $68,000 from the original allocation of $100,000 funding for our Courtyard program. update • We are requesting an additional $100,000. • We have been awarded $25,000 by the DDA, with the opportunity to request an additional £25,000. Camillus At their December meeting, the Camillus House Board of Directors directed the President to Board initiate the following actions. actions (1) To limit the census at our Courtyard Program to no more than 280 persons, except in times of regarding weather (cold or hurricane) emergency. Priority will be given to adults who meet the criteria the funding for designation as "chronically homeless," and who are residents of Miami -Dade County. shortfall Highest priority for persons who are residents of the City of Miami. (2) To establish a procedure to charge persons residing in the Courtyard Program who have an identifiable and recurring source of income that reflects the HUD -criteria currently in place in other Camillus House programs, and does not cause an extreme hardship. Courtyard • In 2008, over 700 (unduplicated) persons spent at least one night in our Courtyard program. statistics of • One night last week, we housed 293 persons in our Courtyard Program. interest • At our 12/15/08 census, 14% of our guests were 60 and above, and 22% were women. • We are currently renovating Beckham Hall to accommodate 24 women. New Site • We have essentially completed our architectural design plans. Update • We have received preliminary continents on our plans, and will be submitting final plans for permitting at the end of February. • We expect to solicit bids from contractors in March, with a final decision and contract executed in April. We expect to commence construction in May contingent on financing. • State support of the Shepherd's Court 80-unit apartment is in some jeopardy due to cuts at the Florida Housing Finance Corporation. New Site • To date, we have $23,750,000 in private sector pledges. Funding • Total project cost: approaching $94 million including operations and reserves, Update • We have pledges of $10 million from Miami -Dade County and Mayor Diaz. We will soon be going to financial institutions for interim financing, and will need to secure written assurances concerning these pledges. • We have requested $20 million from the Federal Economic Stimulus Package. • We appreciate the CRA's support for $14 million in additional Federal support.
