CRA-R-05-0054
Frank Rollason (Executive Director, Community Redevelopment Agency): All right.
Chairman Winton: And I think we have a supplemental item.
Mr. Rollason: There's a supplemental --
Board Member Gonzalez: We have a supplemental.
Mr. Rollason: -- item. It is a -- it's really a timeliness item because of the -- Black History
Month in February, and of course, we don't meet again until the end of January, and so this is a
item recommending that the Southeast Overtown/Park West give a grant to the Black Archives in
the amount of $35, 000 as a partial support for bringing down the Schomburg Institute exhibit,
which is entitled -- which I've got right here in front of me -- "The African -American Migration
Experience" -- "In Motion -- The African -American Migration Experience, " and so, this is
something that think Commissioner Spence has been working on, and the Black Archives has,
so I know there was going to be somebody here from the Black Archives, and here --
Board Member Gonzalez: Mr. Chairman, I'm ready to --
Mr. Rollason: -- Minda Logan's here, the executive director.

Chairman Winton: Do we have a motion?
Board Member Sanchez: Yeah.
Board Member Gonzalez: I'm ready to move.
Board Member Sanchez: Commissioner Spencer makes -- Commissioner Spencer -Jones [sic] --
Chairman Winton: Commissioner Spence --
Board Member Sanchez: -- makes the motion.
Vice Chair Spence -Jones: Make the motion.
Chairman Winton: I mean, Board Member Spence makes the motion --
Board Member Gonzalez: I'll second.
Chairman Winton: -- Board Member Gonzalez seconds. Yes, ma'am.
Minda Logan: Good afternoon, Commissioners.
Vice Chair Spence -Jones: Good afternoon.
Ms. Logan: I'm Minda Logan, CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of the Black Archives. This is an
exhibit that I think will really have resonance not only for the African American community, but
many communities in Miami -Dade County. It's about peoples who go through the experience of
migration, and that is a story that resonates, I think, with a lot of people in Miami -Dade, and the
Schomburg Center is one of the fore -- is the foremost research center for African American
history in the country, if not the world, and we hope to extend our collaboration with them and
bring exhibits of this quality to Miami -Dade County and all the people here for their education
and entertainment, we hope, so I appreciate any support you can give us with this exhibit. We
will be seeking funding from the School Board, from corporate partners, and other people to
make this a reality. Thank you.
Chairman Winton: Any other discussion on supplemental item number 1? If not, all in favor,
"aye."
The Board Members (Collectively): Aye.
Chairman Winton: Like sign, opposed. The motion carries. Do we have any other business and
? Motion to adjourn the --
Board Member Sanchez: So move.
Chairman Winton: -- CRA (Community Redevelopment Agency) Board meetings. Motion.
Board Member Regalado: Second.
Chairman Winton: Second. Discussion? Being none, all in favor, "aye."
The Board Members (Collectively): Aye.
