The issue is scheduled 'for a
committee hearing in March. If ,
approved, the commission
would consider the issue in
April.
The charter requires a review
of the document at least every
five years to determine whether
it needs revision.
The last review wrapped up
in 2008, when a taskforce made
18 recommendations to the
commission, including that the
county:
'Vet voters amend the char-
ter to provide that the commis-
sion receive a population -based
salary of about $91,995.
■ Retain 13-single-member_
commission districts.
■ Appoint an independent
taskforce to submit a compre-
hensive plan for countywide
incorporation, subject to
amendments or changes by a
two-thirds vote of the commis-
sion...
The taskforce recommended
that the county place the incor-
poration plan on the general elec-
tion ballot.
■ Allow voters to amend the
charter to provide that future
taskforces could place recom-
mendations directly on electoral
ballots.
■ Let voters amend the char-
ter to provide citizens with 120
days to collect signatures for
proposed charter amendments.
The county would place
amendments on general elec-
tion ballots.
■ Allow voters to amend the
charter to provide that the com-
mission could not adopt legisla-
tion regulating citizen petition
Ives taxpayer procedures.

gram, he said he hopes they will — I
continue to reach out to the
county's small businesses.
"If they don't," he said, "I'll
just have to grab the bull by the
horns and do it myself."
