Thompson References: February 10, 2011 Agenda City Clerk Enclosures: List of members The Equal Opportunity Advisory Board was created to review and recommend to the City Commission the adoption of amendments/revisions to the City' s affirmative action plan. The board also reviews employment policies and practices of the City and makes recommendations to the Department of Employee Relations. Eight (8) appointments are required at this time: • Chairman Wifredo (Willy) Gort has one (2) nominations for seats currently held by: 1. Vacant 2. Miriam Urra, incumbent, whose term expires February 11, 2011, has exceeded the number of allowed absences (5 in 2010) and would require a 4/5ths waiver of attendance. • Vice Chairman Frank Carollo has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by:t 1. Rebeca Alvarez -Mena, incumbent, whose term expired July 12, 2007, has exceeded the number of allowed absences (8 absences in 2007), and would require a 4/5ths waiver of attendance. 2. Vacant. • Commissioner Marc David Sarnoff has one (1) nomination for a seat currently:3' 1. Vacant • Commissioner Richard Dunn II has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by: 1. Charles Flowers, incumbent, whose term expires February 11, 2011, has served as a member since April 26, 2001 and would require a term waiver by a unanimous (5/5ths) vote of the Commission. • AFSCME 871 has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by: 1. James Dixon, incumbent, whose term expires February 11, 2011, has exceeded the number of allowed absences (4 in 2010), and would require a 4/5ths waiver of attendance. * This item was continued from February 11, 2010, March 11, 2010, April 8, 2010, May 13, 2010, June 10, 2010, July 8, 2010, September 16, 2010, October 14, 2010, October 28, 2010, November 18, 2010, and January 13, 2011 Commission meetings. Viona Brown, incumbent, whose term expired May 13, 2010, has served as a member since February 8, 2001 and would require a term waiver by a unanimous (5/5ths) vote of the Commission. For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the February 10, 2011 Commission agenda.
