HomeMy WebLinkAboutSubmittal-Brickell Homeowners Association-Resolution^ ' B � H �~��w �p �� K R [ /- >( E L , ()W,h]�0_ ----�- --____ �\ (_ | !33"11 � 1�O�Box 45-243) 11iomiFL3]l45'I403 hnckcUboncu*noa.co,o X�WO - w«° Submitted into the public record inconnection with items PZ.24&PZ.2Son 10'28'10 Priscilla A.Thompson City Clerk RESOLULTION Supporting the Proposed Public Charter School, Brickell Preparatory Academy, 1742-44 SW 2 nd Ave., Miami The following Resolution has been duly adopted by the BhckeU Homeowners Association on October 20, 2010: WHEREAS, there have been changing demographics and tremendous growth in the BrickeU residential community in the past decade; and WHEREAS, there are many new families |n the area, but no new public schools constructed in the past lOyears; and WHEREAS, the proposers of the project have a strong track record in their field with a number of successful charter schools opened and in operation; and WHEREAS, many families in BHA are strongly in favor of having an educational alternative in the neighborhood and want Umsee the school built sothey can remain in the neighborhood; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that BhckeU Homeowners Association supports the development ofBrickeU Preparatory Academy at 1743-44 SW 2ndAvenue subject tothe following conditions being added to the Special Exception Development Order, which have been guaranteed as mitigating measures and are key to BH/\'s approval of the project plan: ° The student body is capped at 1,700 students and 80 percent of this student body will come from the immediate residential community within a three-mile radius of the school; and ° Five hundred feet of queuing within the school property will be constructed to oUovv for the streaming line of vehicles dropping off and picking up students; and ° Three arrival/dismissal times will be created by grade cohort to space out the Oovv of students arriving and leaving the school; and ° BhokeU Preparatory Academy will operate its own shuttle service comprised of at least four shuttle buses for students with p|ck- up/dnop-offdtthe Bhcke|| and Vizcaya Metr0ra|| stations which will be staffed by school personnel toensure chi|dren'ssafety; and ° To ensure an even distribution of students arriving by vehicle, by shuttle, by public transportation, and on foot orbike, students and parents will agree to a d rnodaand�- / )[/ry^f^ylU�7l{��.� /7(`{��|^���yl \v�' ~~ ��"�.- u-A .i. this agreement between the schools and families will be enforced. The breakdown of transportation types will be approximately 600 by vehicle, 600 by shuttle; 341 by public transportation; and 341 bywa|k|ng/cyc|ing; and ° Any additional conditions justified bythe opposition's tna[fic impact analysis in order to ensure the "real wodd" impact is 600 students, including but not limited to reducing the number of students in each cohort (elementary, middle and high).
