Director [ City Manager Page 1 of 2 `1» Background Information On October 28, 2010, the Miami City Commission adopted Resolution No. 10-0478, accepting the bid received August 18, 2010, pursuant to Invitation for Bid No. 206203, from Maritime Mobile Communications, LLC, d/b/a Digital Video Systems, in the amount of $151,345.00, for the Purchase and Installation of Audio Visual Equipment for the Department of Fire -Rescue at the City's Emergency Operations Center ("EOC") located at the College of Policing (the "Project"), and further authorizing a ten percent (10%) owner contingency of $15,134.50 to be utilized by the Department of Fire -Rescue without further City Commission approval for a total amount of $166,479.50 The Department of Fire -Rescue has determined that additional goods and services are required for the Purchase and Installation of Audio Visual Equipment for the City's "EOC" located at the "Project". The additional goods and services include: • The capability (equipment and programming) to see four (4) simultaneous channels on television monitors located .in the Planning and Policy Rooms of the "EOC" to enhance the ability to monitor news events. o The Department of Police Public Information Office (PIO) section just recently shared with the Department of Fire -Rescue their ability to watch four (4) channels on one (1) monitor. This has tremendously increased PIO's ability to monitor for developing situations and to take quick action. Due to their experience, the Department of Fire - Rescue believes this will enhance the ability to monitor news stations for developing situations on a daily basis. A well planned terrorist attack may involve numerous locations throughout the Country and being able to monitor for developing situations will allow Fire -Rescue to be better prepared to anticipate their next move and hopefully avoid or minimize the impact. • The capability (equipment and programming) to see four (4) simultaneous channels on a projector which will allow the Planning Section of the "EOC" .to project onto the wall simultaneously the Situation Report, Resource Tracking, Event Log, Incident Action Report, GIS Maps, and other Situational Awareness documents/maps. • Enhance programming on the matrix and control board to handle the additional equipment being installed. • Improvement of the ability to hear and see the audio visual components in the overflow section of the "EOC" by installing two (2) additional speakers with an amplifier and have wiring, equipment, and programming installed so that the images portrayed via the projectors located in the overflow section of the EOC can be managed during EOC activation.
