HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-11-0078City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-11-0078 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 11-00070 Final Action Date: 3/10/2011 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DECLARING NO OBJECTION AND SUPPORTING THE CODESIGNATION BY THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE, PURSUANT TO SENATE BILL 1604, DESIGNATING 12TH AVENUE FROM SOUTHWEST 8TH STREET TO NORTHWEST 64TH STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS "KATHERINE FERNANDEZ RUNDLE AVENUE;" FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, DISTRICT SIX, FOR SIGN INSTALLATION WITHIN THE NEWLY DESIGNATED ROADWAY. WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1604, adopted by the Florida Legislature, designated a state transportation facility ("roadway") that is located within the City of Miami ("City") at 12th Avenue from Southwest 8th Street to Northwest 64th Street, Miami, Florida, as "Katherine Fernandez Rundle Avenue;" and WHEREAS, Florida Statute 334.071, entitled "Legislative designation of transportation facilities," states that erection of markers shall be contingent upon the appropriate city or county commission passing a resolution in support of the particular honorary designation; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the request made by the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") for honorary designation of roads located in the City, the Miami City Commission has no objection and supports Senate Bill 1604; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Miami City Commission declares no objection and supports the codesignation by the Florida Legislature, pursuant to Senate Bill 1604, designating 12th Avenue from Southwest 8th Street to Northwest 64th Street, Miami, Florida, as "Katherine Fernandez Rundle Avenue." Section 3. The City Manager is directed to instruct the Director of Public Works to transmit a copy of this Resolution to FDOT, District Six, for sign installation within the newly designated roadways. Section 4.
