HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-11-0067City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-11-0067 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 11-00078 Final Action Date: 2/24/2011 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), BYA FOUR FIFTHS (4/STHS) AFFIRMATIVE VOTE, APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT OF THE MIAMI CITY ATTORNEY, AS GENERAL COUNSEL OF THE MIAMI SPORTS AND EXHIBITION AUTHORITY. WHEREAS, the Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority ("MSEA") was established in 1983, pursuant to Section 212.057 (1983), Florida Statutes, as an independent and autonomous agency and instrumentality of the City of Miami ("City"); and WHEREAS, Section 2-1018 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, states that MSEA shall appoint its legal counsel and the appointment, terms and conditions of the contract of employment resulting from the appointment, shall be subject to approval by a four -fifths (4/5ths) vote of the Miami City Commission; and WHEREAS, the MSEA Board of Directors met on January 19, 2011, and adopted Resolution No. 11-001, attached and incorporated, approving the appointment of the Office of the City Attorney, as MSEA's general counsel, subject to Miami City Commission approval; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The appointment of the Miami City Attorney, as general counsel of MSEA, is approved by a four fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote. Section 3. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
