HomeMy WebLinkAboutPre Legislation 2Crystal Report Viewer Page 1 of 2 City of Miami Text File Report City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File ID: 10-00259 Enactment#: R-10-0159 Version: I Type: Resolution Introduced: 3/ 1 / 10 Status: Passed Enactment Date: 4/8/10 Controlling Body: Office of the City Clerk A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SUPPLEMENTAL JOINT PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT NUMBER ONE, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ("FDOT"), TO ACCEPT AN ADDITIONAL STATE OF FLORIDA ("STATE") CONTRIBUTION IN THE AMOUNT OF $164,560, FOR A TOTAL STATE CONTRIBUTION IN THE AMOUNT OF $538,560, PROVIDED BY THE FDOT TRANSIT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE HEALTH DISTRICT RUBBER -TIRE TROLLEY SERVICE, PROJECT B-30581; AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI'S ("CITY'S") REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $164,560, FROM THE CITY'S SHARE OF THE ONE-HALF CENT TRANSIT SURTAX PROCEEDS OF THE PEOPLES TRANSPORTATION PLAN. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been collaborating with the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") and the Miami Partnership, a coalition of the major stakeholders and property owners in the Health District: and WHEREAS, the City and the Miami Partnership have established a vision for the arca which endeavors to improve mobility and enhance the image and quality -of -life of the area of the second largest employment center in the City and Miami -Dade County: and WHEREAS, in furthering this vision, the City is proposing a rubber -tire circulator/trolley service which will serve the Health District with connections to fourteen (14) major facilities/institutions, nine (9) parking garages/parking lots, the Civic Center Metrorail Station, and connections to optional future trolley routes throughout the City; and WHEREAS, the City was previously awarded State of Florida ("State") funds in the amount of $374,000, by the FDOT from the States Transit Development Program to assist with the operation and maintenance costs associated with the Health District Trolley for the first year of circulator service; and WHEREAS, the City entered into a Joint Participation Agreement with the FDOT on April 10, 2009 for the State's financial contribution to the Health District Trolley in the amount of $374,000, for the first year of circulator service: and WHEREAS, the FDOT has awarded the City, additional State funds in the amount of $164,560, for a total State contribution of $538,560, for the Health District Trolley service; and WHEREAS, the City is required to provide an equivalent additional match of $164,560, in addition to the previous match of $374,000, and enter into a Public Transportation Supplemental Joint Participation Agreement Number One ("Agreement"), for the operating and maintenance costs associated with providing an additional year of circulator service in the Health http://egov.ci.miami.fl.us/LegistarWeb/temp/rep35B7.html 12/29/2010 Crystal Report Viewer Page 2 of 2 District: and WHEREAS. the City's contribution will be provided by its share of the People's Transportation Plan half -cent transit surtax proceeds which a minimum of twenty percent (20%) must be allocated to eligible transit projects in the City: NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized (I) to execute an Agreement, with FDOT. in substantially the attached form, to accept an additional State contribution in the amount of $164.560, for a total State contribution in the amount of $538,560, provided by the FDOT Transit Development Program, for the operation and maintenance of the Health District Rubber -Tire Trolley Service, Project B-30581. Section"3. The allocation of the City's required matching funds, in the amount of $164,560, from the City's share of the one-half cent transit surtax proceeds of the People's Transportation Plan, is authorized.
