HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 11-00029 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $4,558,939, CONSISTING OF A GRANT AWARD FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT, FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD STABILIZATION PROGRAM 3, UNDER THE DODD-FRANK WALL STREET REFORM AND CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT ENACTED JULY 21, 2010; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OF SAID GRANT AWARD. WHEREAS, on July 21, 2010, the President of the United States signed the Dodd -Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 which includes the Neighborhood Stabilization Program 3 ("NSP3"); and WHEREAS, the NSP3 is designed to stabilize neighborhoods whose viability has been, and continues to be, damaged by the economic effects of properties that have been foreclosed and abandoned; and WHEREAS, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("U.S. HUD") has advised the City of Miami that a grant in the amount of $4,558,939 has been awarded for its NSP3 under the Dodd -Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010; and WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends the acceptance of said grant award for the implementation of the NSP3; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORI DA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Funds, in the amount of $4,558,939, consisting of a grant award from U.S. HUD, for the NSPS, under the Dodd -Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010, are accepted. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to implement the acceptance and administration of said grant award. Section 4. This. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
