Rebuilding Together Miami is a 501©3 non-profit organization that refurbishes homes for low-income elderly and disabled homeowners at no cost to the homeowner. We include veterans of all wars in our client list. Rebuilding Together is the nation's leading non-profit working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities. Rebuilding Together believes in a safe and healthy home for every person. This means that we believe disabled and aging homeowners should be able to remain in their homes for as long as possible. The nation is facing enormous problems, many of which have reached crisis levels. The low-income homeowners that Rebuilding Together serves are disproportionaltely affected by these issues. Homeownership is at an all time high, especially among low to mid -income Americans, but the costs of owning and maintaining a home are growing exponentially. Healthcare costs are skyrocketing, leaving low-income citizens with less and Tess disposable income for home repairs and modifications. In 2009 and 2019 Rebuilding Together Miami refurbished 33 homes in Coconut Grove with 600 volunteers participating and approximately $500,000 of market value work donated to the community. In the last four years Rebuilding Together Miami has refurbished a total of 73 homes in Coconut Grove with a market value of close to $1,000,000. We have 11 more homes in Coconut Grove scheduled for work. Since inception in 1993 Rebuilding Together Miami has refurbished approximately 340 homes with hundreds of skilled and unskilled volunteers donating $5 million of market value work to the Miami -Dade community. We are requesting $100,000 to refurbish homes for low-income, elderly and disabled homeowner in the West Grove of the City of Miami. The average medium income of homeowners served is $15,000. The average number of years in the home is 40 and the average age is 75 years old. Homes include single homeowners, couples and many homes include grandchildren. There will be job opportunities to complete the repairs which will be a benefit to the community. Rebuilding Together is well placed to face the problems of home repairs and to create real, sustainable solutions for the low-income homeowners we serve. We provide a service to the commuity that few other organizations offer. We look forward to continuing to serve the Miami community with this funding opportunity. Sincerely, Donna Fales Donna Fales Executive Director
