Subject: Resolution authorizing the renaming of Golden Arms Mini Park to "Silver Bluff Park."
Purpose of Item:
The Department of Parks and Recreation recommends the renaming of Golden Arms mini park
located at 2000 S.W. 24th Street, to "Silver Bluff Park" as per the request of the majority of the
residents who live around the park and use it regularly, as expressed in a public meeting held in April
2010 at the site to discuss future park improvements.
Background Information:
The Department of Parks and Recreation is currently in the process of implementing certain
improvements at Golden Arms Mini Park as per the request of the residents of the area. In a
community meeting held on April 7th 2010—to discuss proposed new improvements to the park (new
playground and swings) the residents in attendance expressed the desire to the Commissioner of the
district, to have the park name changed to "Silver Bluff Park." This resolution addresses their
concerns and wishes with respect to the official name of the park.
