Background Information: (continued)
Pursuant to Resolution No. 01-484, adopted May 24, 2001, and Resolution No. 05-0212, adopted
April 14, 2005, the City Manager entered into Memorandum of Agreements with participating
agencies setting forth the agencies' responsibilities in connection with the development and support of
a local USAR Task Force coordinated by the City of Miami Department of Fire -Rescue with all costs
to be reimbursed by State and Federal funding sources.
The National Urban Search and Rescue ("USAR") Response System is designated to provide life-
saving emergency disaster response assistance to people in need.
The facilitation of cooperative agreements between the sponsoring agencies and participating agencies
is the source from which credentialed and qualified emergency service personnel are attained, trained,
readied, and equipped.
The City of Miami functions as the Sponsoring Agency for Urban Search and Rescue, Florida, Task
Force 2 ("US&R FL TF-2"), which is one of the 28 teams of US DHS Urban Search and Rescue
Response System.
The City of Dania Beach has determined that becoming a participating agency of this task force is in
its best interest of the citizens and of its visitors.
The participating agency agreement provides a shared equality in service of qualified and credentialed
assistance through the utilization of the City of Dania Beach, Fire -Rescue personnel.
