Director Chief City Manager I L %C Page Iof' l 11 Background Information: (continued) Pursuant to Resolution No. 01-484, adopted May 24, 2001, and Resolution No. 05-0212, adopted April 14, 2005, the City Manager entered into Memorandum of Agreements with participating agencies setting forth the agencies' responsibilities in connection with the development and support of a local USAR Task Force coordinated by the City of Miami Department of Fire -Rescue with all costs to be reimbursed by State and Federal funding sources. The National Urban Search and Rescue ("USAR") Response System is designated to provide life- saving emergency disaster response assistance to people in need. The facilitation of cooperative agreements between the sponsoring agencies and participating agencies is the source from which credentialed and qualified emergency service personnel are attained, trained, readied, and equipped. The City of Miami functions as the Sponsoring Agency for Urban Search and Rescue, Florida, Task Force 2 ("US&R FL TF-2"), which is one of the 28 teams of US DHS Urban Search and Rescue Response System. The City of Dania Beach has determined that becoming a participating agency of this task force is in its best interest of the citizens and of its visitors. The participating agency agreement provides a shared equality in service of qualified and credentialed assistance through the utilization of the City of Dania Beach, Fire -Rescue personnel. Page 2
