HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 10-01299 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), DESIGNATING ART BASEL AS A SPECIAL EVENT TO TAKE PLACE DECEMBER 1-6, 2010, WITHIN THE DESIGN DISTRICT, MIDTOWN AND WYNWOOD AREAS, PURSUANT TO SECTION 57-46 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, ENTITLED "SPECIAL EVENTS OPERATION". WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has adopted regulations governing the operation of nonmotorized vehicles, more specifically, pedicabs, on public streets; and WHEREAS, the City's economy, and in turn, its citizens, benefit from special events, as they serve to entertain and educate both citizens and visitors; and WHEREAS, Art Basel, taking place in December, 2010, and the activities that follow the festival, will bring thousands of visitors to the City; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 57-46 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Code"), entitled "Special Events Operation", the City deems it to be in the best interest of its citizens and the general public to designate Art Basel as a special event to take place December 1-6, 2010, within the Design District, Midtown and Wynwood areas, as more particularly depicted in the map attached hereto as Exhibit "A", wherein regulation of pedicabs will be user and operator friendly, while still protecting the public health, safety, and welfare; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Pursuant to Section 57-46 of the City Code, entitled "Special Events Operation", the Miami City Commission designates Art Basel as a special event to take place December 1-6, 2010, within the Desiy,' District, Midtown and Wynwood areas, as more parti early depicted in the map attached hereto as Exhibit "A". Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: JULIE O.
