HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-10-0522City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-10-0522 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 10-01201 Final Action Date: 11/18/2010 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE TO THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT ("PSA") WITH COASTAL SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL, INC., FOR THE PROVISION OF MISCELLANEOUS MARINE AND COASTAL ENGINEERING SERVICES, IN THE AMOUNT OF $250,000, THEREBY INCREASING THE CONTRACT AMOUNT FROM $500,000, TO A TOTAL CONTRACT AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $750,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $250,000, FROM THE APPROPRIATE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE PSA, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, on July 29, 2008, pursuant to Request for Qualifications No. 06-07-017, the City of Miami executed a Professional Services Agreement ("PSA") with Coastal Systems International, Inc. ("CSI"), for the provision of Miscellaneous Marine and Coastal Engineering Services, in an amount not to exceed $500,000; and WHEREAS, CSI was the only marine and coastal consultant awarded under this solicitation due to the minimal need at the time; and WHEREAS, the firm has thus been tasked with providing comprehensive design services for several projects including: Kennedy Park Floating Dock- Phase I, Marine Stadium Marina- Bulkhead Replacement and Kennedy Park- Shoreline Stabilization; and WHEREAS, the current remaining contract balance is not sufficient to cover the remaining costs anticipated for these projects; and WHEREAS, it is now necessary to enter into Amendment No. 1 with CSI, increasing the PSA in the amount of $250,000, thereby increasing the contract amount from $500,000 to a total contract amount not to exceed $750,000; and WHEREAS, funds are to be allocated from the appropriate Capital Improvement Projects; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. An increase to the PSA with CSI, for the provision of Miscellaneous Marine and Coastal Engineering Services, in the amount of $250,000, thereby increasing the contract amount for $500,000, to a total contract amount not to exceed $750,000, is authorized, with funds in the amount of $250,000, allocated from the appropriate Capital Improvement Projects. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute Amendment No. 1 to the PSA, in substantially the attached form, for said purpose. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {2} Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
