HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 10-01301 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING A 12-MONTH EXTENSION TO THE COMPASSION CAPITAL DEMONSTRATION FUND PROGRAM GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, THEREBY EXTENDING THE MIAMI NETWORK INTEGRATION COMPASSION AND EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM ("PROGRAM") END DATE FROM SEPTEMBER 30, 2010 TO SEPTEMBER 30, 2011, TO ALLOW FOR THE COMPLETE IMPLEMENTATION, EVALUATION AND CLOSEOUT OF THE PROGRAM; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI, THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, THE ADMINISTRATION FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES AND THE OFFICE OF COMMUNITY SERVICES, FOR SAID PURPOSES. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 07-0641, adopted November 9, 2007, the City of Miami ("City") received a $500,000 grant per year for a period of three consecutive years from the Compassion Capital Fund Demonstration Grant Program ("CCF Grant") for the purpose of building capacity for non-profit organizations through the Miami Network Integration Compassion and Empowerment Program ("Program"); and WHEREAS, on December 5, 2007, the City entered into a Cooperative Agreement with the United States Department Of Health and Human Services, the Administration for Children and Families and the Office of Community Services ("Cooperative Agreement") to achieve the purposes of the CCF Grant; and WHEREAS, the Cooperative Agreement was for a three year term, ending on September 30, 2010; and WHEREAS, the City requires a one year extension to effectively carryout and complete all Program activities, evaluations and closeout reports as required by the Cooperative Agreement; and WHEREAS, the United States Department of Health and Human Services approved the City's request for extension of the term "until September 30, 2011; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if flrlly set forth in this Section. The City Commission authorizes a 12-month extension to the Compassion Capital Demonstration Fund Program Grant from the United States Department of Health and Human Services, thereby extending the Miami Network Integration Compassion and Empowerment Program ("Program") end date from September 30, 2010 to September 30, 2011, to allow for the complete implementation, evaluation and closeout of the Program. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute an amendment to the Cooperative Agreement between the City, the United States Department of Health and Human Services, the Administration for Children and Families and the Office of Community Services, for said purposes. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {2} APPROVED AS TO FOVI AND CORRECTNESS: JULIE O. BRU CITY ATTORNEY �� Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
