Dear Sergio:
RE: Letter of Commitment for Indoor Meals Program
The Miami Coalition for the Homeless, Inc. continues to be a key stakeholder in the
success of the Indoor Meal Program in Miami. The Coalition will continue supporting
the program efforts to address the needs of the homeless in Miami by coordinating the
numerous community organizations participating and serving at the program feeding
sites.
The Indoor Meal Program has a proven track record of effectively addressing.a basic
need for our homeless neighbors, through the provision of a meal. The Indoor Meal
Program has been essential in organizing the various organizations and groups providing
meals for the homeless. Additionally, the program has been successful in the
identification of new feeding sites for expansion of the program this year. This program
has assured that basic services for the homeless can be provided in a humane manner.
The Coalition will contribute with 31% of the budget for a Program Coordinator, for a
total of $ 10,000. The Coalition will reimburse the City of Miami Homeless.Assistance
Program on a biweekly basis, in the amount.of $384.60, to contribute to the annual salary
for the Program Coordinator position.
It is imperative that the City of Miami approve the reopening of the Program Coordinator
position, to help regulate the increased number of groups feeding on the streets. This is
also a preventative measure to avoid the need for an ordinance.
This commitment is subject to termination by either party upon 30 days written notice.
Sincerely,
Rita Clark
Policy Director
