HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 10-01263 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE EXTENSION AND AMENDMENT #1 TO THE 2009-10 HOTEUMOTEL, HOMELESS MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM ("HMIS") AND FEEDING AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI AND MIAMI-DADE COUNTY TO PROVIDE HOTEL/MOTEL ACCOMMODATION TO HOMELESS FAMILIES, STAFFING FOR HMIS AND FEEDING PROGRAM COORDINATION; ESTABLISHING A SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "2010-11 HOMELESS HOTEUMOTEL, HMIS AND FEEDING AGREEMENT' AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $152,166, CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY HOMELESS TRUST; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY OTHER NECESSARY DOCUMENTS IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OF SAID GRANT AWARD. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 10-0008, adopted January 14, 2010, the Miami -Dade County Homeless Trust awarded the City of Miami ("City") a grant in the amount of $114,666, for the provision of services and staffing of the Miami Homeless Assistance Programs for 2010; and WHEREAS, on February 1, 2010, the City entered into an agreement with Miami -Dade County ("County") to memorialize acceptance of the grant and provide hotel/motel accommodation to homeless families, staffing for the Homeless Management Information System ("HMIS") and Feeding Program coordination (the "2009-10 HOTEL/MOTEL, HMIS and Feeding Agreement"); and WHEREAS, the City has been awarded an extension and amendment of the initial grant with additional funds in the amount of $152,166, for the provision of services and staffing of the Miami Homeless Assistance Programs for Fiscal Year 2010-11; and WHEREAS, said funds will be used by the Miami Homeless Assistance Programs to temporarily accommodate homeless families and to provide funds to staff the HMIS and the Feeding Program coordination; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the for the City Manager to accept said grant and to establish a new special revenue project for the appropriation of said grant award; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Therecitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute the Extension and Amendment #1 to the 2009-10 Hotel/Motel, HMIS and Feeding Agreement, in substantially the attached form, between the City and the County to provide hotel/motel accommodation to homeless families, staffing for HMIS and Feeding Program coordination, and further execute any other necessary documents in order to implement the acceptance and administration of said grant award. Section 3. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are appropriated as described below: PROJECT TITLE : 2010-11 Homeless Hotel/Motel, HMIS and Feeding Agreement RESOURCES: Miami -Dade County Homeless Trust $152,166 4PPROPRIATIONS: City of Miami Homeless Assistance Program for temporary accommodation of homeless families, HMIS staft.ng , and feeding coordination $152,166 Section 4. Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
