RELIEF PROJECT / EDI GRANT
2. ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION:

The rehabilitation, reconstruction and
improvements of housing facilities serving
elderly individuals.
la. Installation of a security camera system
encompassing the entire building such as resident
hallways and Alzheimer's unit will prove useful in case
of emergencies. In addition, placing cameras to the
exterior of the building will provide a safer environment
where residents.
$25,000.00
lb. Installation of a security gate will secure and sections
out the exterior backside of the building where residents
can take walks such in common areas and prevent non -
visitors, or strangers out.
$9,000.00
lc. Repair metal fire exit doors will provide adequate
security.
$2,500.00
ld. Installation of an elevator security coding system for
floors requiring added supervision such as Alzheimer's
Units will provide a safer environment for the residents
and visitors.
$5,000.00
le. Restore the condition of the floor within the elevators
which is necessary for safety reasons will provide a safer
surface for residents and visitors to walk on. It will also
facilitate easier flow of traffic for those in housekeeping
and/or room service.

2a. Changing the light fixtures in the resident hallways
will save energy, and promote a safer environment for
our residents as well as support fall prevention. This will
also decrease mood disorders and promote a livelier
environment for residents to interact and socialize while
minimizing retirement home stigmas.

2b.Tinting glass windows located in common areas such
as elevator lobbies will reduce indoor heat and save
energy.
$10,000.00
3a. Replacing main kitchen equipment that is necessary
to run day to day functions of a full kitchen serving three
meals per day to 303 residents.
$18,000.00
3b. By repairing the outsource connections to the main
generator we will be better equipped to support our
disaster plan in the event of a hurricane or electrical
outage. This will also require us to replace the Base Tank
due to rusting and decomposition.

3c. Replacement of 180 regular toilets to 180 handicap
toilets, will address the need for residents who use
wheelchairs or have mobility impairment.
$42,300.00
3d. Replacement of flooring in resident units which have
been damaged due to wear and tear allowing for a safer
surface for residents to walk on.
$60,000.00
3e. Replacement of damaged kitchenettes in resident
units to provide adequate and functional furnishings that
will also prevent accumulation for bacteria infested
surfaces.
$14,400.00
3f. Replacement of present water fountains on each floor
to meet the needs for residents who use wheelchairs or
are handicapped.
$21,000.00

6. ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Provide residents with better lighting and
adequate controlled temperatures, a secure
and safe environment, adequate toilets and
water fountains for handicap residents and
those with impaired mobility, restored
flooring and kitchens, and functional
equipment to meet the demands of day to day
functions of the facility
