Purpose of Item: Law Department Matter ID No. Discussion regarding a presentation on the use of Traffic Calming Devices. Background Information: Traffic Calming Devices are used for a number of engineering and traffic operational issues including increasing safety, channelizing traffic, reducing vehicular speeds, minimizing traffic intrusion and reducing vehicular conflicts at identified locations. The decision to use a particular device at a particular location is based on a comprehensive traffic engineering study of the location to determine if design warrants or thresholds are met to justify the use of a particular device.
