Backeround Information: The City is seeking to facilitate timely compliance, equitable fines for violators, and provide an avenue for redress from the Code Enforcement Board or Special Master upon exhausting administrative remedies. This ordinance provides reasonable mitigation guidelines for the Code Enforcement Board and Special Master, including factors of consideration such as ordinances/resolutions from the City of Miami Commission established to protect "quality of life" criteria or objectives. It further authorizes the City to grant time extensions for compliance and mitigation when the violator exhibits diligent efforts toward timely compliance and delineates the violator's rights to an administrative hearing. It is anticipated that the proposed changes shall reduce our code enforcement processing costs and increase the City's revenue. The City projects a significant revenue increase to the average monies collected in FY'07 and FY'08 which totaled $455,015 and $633,863 respectively.
