NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The Miami City Commission will hold a Public Hearing on December 11, 2008 to
consider the award of a contract, in the amount of $59,180.00, to Miami Dade College,
$48,952.68 to Citizens for a Better South Florida, $50,000.00 Theodore Roosevelt
Gibson Memorial Fund, Incorporated d/b/a Thelma Gibson Health Initiative, 2008-2009
contract period, for the provision of GED instruction, college prep classes, teacher
instruction, reading tutors, local campus tours, science workshops and instruction,
provision of case management, social services and family therapy, and similar activities
in conjunction with educational and parks services to be provided at Virrick Park in
conjunction with a grant from the Children's Trust for youth violence intervention and
prevention called "Uniting for Peace" and to consider the City Manager's
recommendation in finding that competitive negotiation methods are not practicable or
advantageous regarding these issues. Inquires regarding this notice may be addressed to

This action is being considered pursuant to Section 18-86 (services related to educational
services and activities provided by non-profit organizations within city parks) of the Code
of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended. The recommendation and finding to be
considered in this matter are set forth in the proposed resolution and in this Code Section,
which are deemed to be incorporated by reference herein and are available as public
records from the City of Miami. The Public Hearing will be held in conjunction with the
regularly scheduled City Commission meeting of December 11, 2008 at Miami City Hall,
3500 Pan American Drive, Miami, Florida.
All interested individuals are invited to attend this hearing and may comment on the
proposed issue. Should any person desire to appeal any decision of the City Commission
with respect to any matter considered at this meeting, that person shall ensure that a
verbatim record of the proceedings is made including all testimony and evidence upon
which any appeal may be based.
In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, persons needing special
