A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT TO
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY ("COUNTY") FOR THE DISPOSAL OF CERTAIN SOLID
WASTE COLLECTED IN AND BY THE CITY OF MIAMI (CITY"), IN AN ESTIMATED
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $9,331,000, TO BE EXPENDED AS NECESSARY
THROUGHOUT THE FISCAL YEAR, FOR A ONE-YEAR PERIOD, PURSUANT TO
AN INTERLOCALAGREEMENT ENTERED INTO SEPTEMBER 29, 1995, BY AND
BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE COUNTY; STIPULATING THAT IF A
SUPPLEMENTAL ALLOCATION IS REQUIRED, IT WILL BE BROUGHT BACK TO
THE CITY COMMISSION FOR APPROVAL; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
ACCOUNT CODE NO. 04001.213000.549000.0000.00000.
WHEREAS, on September 29, 1995 the City of Miami ("City") entered into an Interlocal
Agreement with Miami -Dade County ("County") for the use of the County Solid Waste Management
System Facilities for disposal of certain solid waste materials collected in and by the City through
October 1, 2015; and
WHEREAS, the Interlocal Agreement established the fees for Fiscal Year 2008-2009 for the
disposal and transfer of materials collected in and by the City at $60.43 per ton for disposal, $11.90
per ton for transfer, or totaling $72.33 per ton, at the Resource Recovery Landfill or Transfer
Facilities, respectively as applicable; and
WHEREAS, funds are available from Account Code No. 04001.213000.549000.0000.00000;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Payment to the County for the disposal of certain solid waste collected in and by the
City, in an estimated amount not to exceed $9,331,000, to be expended as necessary throughout the
Fiscal Year for a one-year period, pursuant to an Interlocal Agreement entered into September 29,
1995, by and between the City and the County, is authorized, with funds allocated from Account No.
04001.213000.549000.0000.00000, with the stipulation that if a supplemental allocation is required, it
will be brought back to the City Commission for approval.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1}

{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of the ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
