Subject: Resolution accepting a grant from the Department of Environmental Protection ("DEP") in the not to
exceed amount of $1,000,000. This grant will be used for both the Fairlawn Storm Sewer Improvements
Project -Phase III, B-50704 and the San Marco and Biscayne Islands Drainage Improvements Project, B-30588.
Purpose of Item:
To authorize the City Manager to accept $1,000,000 in funds and execute a grant agreement, in substantially the
attached form, with the State Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the following projects in the
listed amounts:
$500,000- Fairlawn Storm Sewer Improvements Project - Phase III, B-50704
$500,000- San Marco and Biscayne Islands Drainage Improvements Project, B-30588
Matching Homeland Defense and Street Bond funds to be identified for the Fairlawn Project from CIP Project
No. B-50704 and matching Street Bond funds are identified for the San Marco Project from CIP Project No.
B-30588.
Background Information:
CIP applied for and received a drainage improvement grant from the DEP in the not to exceed amount of
$1,000,000. This funding will be utilized in the following locations:
(1) Fairlawn Storm Sewer Improvements Project —SW 8 St., W. Flagler St., S.W. 47th Ave. and S.W. 57 Ave.
(2) San Marco and Biscayne Islands Drainage Improvements Project, B-30588— San Marco and Biscayne Islands
The award must be formally accepted and appropriated by the City Commission. Approval of this resolution will
authorize the City Manager to accept the grant award and a separate resolution will be presented in the future for
appropriation of the funds.
