Dirc970 V Chief City Manager, Page 1 of 1 AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY FORM CONTINUED Background Information: Pursuant to Resolution No. 04-0374, adopted June 10, 2004, the City Commission approved the City of Miami's ("City") Consolidated Plan for Fiscal Years 2004-2009. Per the Code of Federal Regulations 24 CFR 91.220, all entitlement jurisdictions are required to submit an Annual Action Plan to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("U.S. HUD") for the purpose of carrying out its long term strategic plan. Pursuant to Resolution No. 08-0442, adopted July 24, 2008, the City Commission approved the City's Annual Action Plan for the Fiscal Year 2008-2009. The Annual Action Plan set forth the overall goals and objectives of the City's Consolidated Plan. On September 26, 2008, the City was awarded of $12,063,702 for the implementation of the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. U.S. HUD has mandated that all interested recipients submit an amended action plan for the Fiscal Year 2008-2009 to receive the funds. The Annual Action Plan has been amended to include the Neighborhood Stabilization Program which will provide emergency assistance to the City of Miami to acquire foreclosed properties that might otherwise become sources of abandonment and blight and rehabilitate, resell, or redevelop the properties to stabilize neighborhoods and stem the decline of house values of neighboring homes.
