HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-08-0612City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-08-0612 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 08-01200 Final Action Date: 10/23/2008 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE TO THE CONTRACT WITH WEEKLEY ASPHALT PAVING, INC., FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF REPAIR, MAINTENANCE AND INSTALLATION OF ROADWAY SYSTEMS SERVICES, ON AN AS -NEEDED BASIS, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS, UTILIZING EXISTING BROWARD COUNTY BID CONTRACT NUMBER H-Z-05-376-B1, EFFECTIVE THROUGH JUNE 26, 2009, PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION NO. 07-0703, ADOPTED DECEMBER 13, 2007, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $2,122,800, INCREASING THE CONTRACT FROM $2,000,000, TO TOTAL CONTRACT AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $4,122,800; ALLOCATING FUNDS, FROM VARIOUS CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT ACCOUNTS, SUBJECT TO BUDGETARY APPROVAL AT THE TIME OF NEED. WHEREAS, Section 18-111 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, allows for the use of other competitively bid government contracts to fulfill the City of Miami's ("City's") procurement needs; and WHEREAS, Broward County has competitively bid pursuant to Invitation to Bid No. H-Z-05-376-B1, and awarded a contract effective through June 26, 2009, to Weekley Asphalt Paving, Inc. ("Weekley") to furnish all labor, equipment and materials required for the repair, maintenance and installation of roadway systems; and WHEREAS, the City desired the same services to be available as needed Citywide; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 07-0703, adopted December 13, 2007, the City Commission granted approval to utilize said Broward County Agreement with Weekley in an amount of $2,000,000; and WHEREAS, in order to maintain continuity of work, the City desires to continue utilizing Weekley's services; and WHEREAS, the amount of $1,473,800 of the $2,000,000, has been used for DWNTWN Beautification Project, B-30606 ("Project"), with a remaining balance of $526,200; and WHEREAS, said remaining funds are not sufficient for the currently estimated roadway construction services, particularly those required for the Project; and WHEREAS, the Capital Improvements Program ("CIP") has determined that it is most practicable and advantageous to use the same firm to complete the Project; and WHEREAS, CIP therefore requests an increase in the authorized award value, from $2,000,000, to an amount not to exceed $4,122,800, to cover anticipated roadway construction services for the Project, and various capital projects as needed; City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 08-01200 (Version: 1) Printed On: 5/17/2017 File Number: 08-01200 Enactment Number: R-08-0612 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. An increase to the contract with Weekley, for the procurement of repair, maintenance and installation of roadway systems services, on an as -needed basis, for CIP, utilizing existing Broward County Bid Contract Number H-Z-05-376-B1, effective through June 26, 2009, pursuant to Resolution No. 07-0703, adopted December 13, 2007, in an amount not to exceed $2,122,800, increasing the contract from $2,000,000, to total contract amount not to exceed $4,122,800, is authorized, with funds allocated from various Capital Improvement Project Accounts, subject to budgetary approval at the time of need. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1} Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
