A Resolution of the Miami City Commission authorizing the acceptance of a grant in the form of
goods t:nd services from the Orange Bowl Committee valued at S2,500,000 ("Grant") for an Orange
Bowl Legacy Project at Moore Park in the City of Miami ("City"), further authorizing the City to
allocate required matching funds in an amount not to exceed S2,500,000 for said project, authorizing
the City Manager to execute a grant agreement in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, and all other
documents necessary for said purpose.
Background Information:
In 1933 the University of Miami football team played Manhattan College in the inaugural "Palm
Festival" later known as the Orange Bowl Game, in the City of Miami ("City") at Moore Park. In
honor of that first game and to commemorate the 75s' Orange Bowl Game, the Orange Bowl
Committee wishes to contribute S2,500,000 towards the construction of a football stadium at Moore
Park. The Committee will be responsible for the construction and delivery of the project with
oversight from the City. The City wishes to accept said Grant, and as a condition of the Grant will
provide matching funds to the committee in an amount not to exceed S2,500,000 with funds secured
from the Sunshine State Governmental Financing Commission.
