HomeMy WebLinkAboutSummary Fact SheetPOLICE AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY FACT SHEET JUSTIFICATION: A Resolution of the Miami City Commission ratifying, approving and confirming the City Manager's acceptance of grant funding from the State of Florida/Office of Attorney General/Division of Victims Services to be used for the continued funding of a Victim's Advocate for the duration of one year to coordinate services for victims of crime. HOW IS THIS ITEM GOING TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF SERVICE TO THE CUSTOMER / CITIZENS? The Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Grant program provides funds to support the provision of direct services for the enhancement of the quality of services to crime victims. Services are defined as those efforts that respond to the emotional and physical needs of crime victims, assist victims of crime to stabilize their lives after victimization, assist victims to understand and participate in the criminal justice system and provide victims with a measure of safety and security. N/A FUNDING SOURCE: COMMENTS: Grant TOTAL EXPENDITURE: $40,309.00 The City's Department of Police will provide the required 25% match in an amount of $8,062, in the form of in -kind personnel services towards the salaries and necessary expenses. Grant amount is $32,247 bringing the total grant acceptance amount to $40,309. Pursuant to grant stipulations: "No grant expenses for the period of October 1, 2008, through September 30, 2009, may be incurred until the Agreement has been signed by all parties;" the City Manager executed the Agreement accepting said grant agreement for the appropriation of said award, subject to the City Commission's ratification.
