The Mayor's International Council was created to (1) plan and implement the City's International
Trade promotion policies for the purposes of stimulating commercial and residential development
and expanding the City's tax base through the promotion of foreign trade and local investment in
accordance with the bylaws adopted by the Council; (2) serve in an advisory capacity for the City of
Miami Sister Cities Program to plan, implement, and oversee the City's international, professional,
and technical educational and cultural exchanges, promotion and policies to create and stimulate
friendly and meaningful relationships; and (3) coordinate protocol requirements for national and
international events and dignitaries pursuant to the standard and practices adopted by the Council.
Seven (7) appointments are required at this time:
• Commission -at -Large has one (1) appointment:
1. Vacancy (due to the resignation of Denis Rod).
• Mayor Diaz has six (6) appointments:
1. Dr. Guy Rudolph Moise, incumbent, whose term expired July 20, 2008.
2. Dwayne Wynn, incumbent, whose term expired July 20, 2008.
3. Edgardo Fortuna, incumbent, whose term expired July 20, 2008.
4. Julian Linares, incumbent, whose term expired July 20, 2008.
5. Luis Lauredo, incumbent, whose term expired July 20, 2008.
6. Steven Bandel, incumbent, whose term expired July 20, 2008.
For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership list of the council. By
copy of this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on the October
16, 2008 Commission agenda.
