AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY FORM CONTINUED
Background Information:
On February 14, 2008, a Request for Proposal was issued for agencies to provide public service
activities for a one-year period with the option to extend such contract for an additional year, which
would be contingent on the availability of funds, and the agencies having met their contractual
obligations.
Due to decrease of available CDBG funds, all Public Service agencies' allocations have been
reduced.
At the June 5, 2008 City Commission meeting, Commissioner Angel Gonzalez made a motion
directing the City Manager to execute the necessary documents to fund social services agencies at
the same level that they have been funded in the past years.
Also at the June 5, 2008 City Commission meeting, Pedro G. Hernandez, City Manager, stated on
the record that dollars from the Mayor's Poverty Initiative Account would be used to cover the funding
shortfall for the feeding programs.
The Administration recommends the transfer of Mayor's Poverty Initiative funds, in the amount of
$298,065, in the amounts and to the agencies and in the amounts as specified in Exhibit "A",
attached and incorporated.
